Dodoid
Канада
Добавлен 1 дек 2013
Dodoid is a channel about whatever old and new technology I happen to have laying around. I'm particularly interested in Silicon Graphics machines and ThinkPads of all ages, but I'll upload just about any computer-related thing I think is interesting.
If you need to contact me, send a private message to /u/DodoDude700 (my account) on Reddit, or to Dodoid on IRIX Network's forum or Discord (for SGI stuff). This channel used to be called ShroomTube, and featured poor quality animations of mushrooms. Those videos are no longer available but if you want to access one please ask.

A Quick Look at Skylo, and the most important thing they haven't announced
A company named Skylo made some news yesterday by announcing a plan to offer $1/mo satellite communications for IoT on a $100 terminal. What they didn't announce was which satellites they planned to use. This video is a quick look at the information Skylo has given us, and at anything else we can find about it.

Pegasus: The Whole Story Part 1 - The Beginning
Просмотров 3,4 тыс.6 лет назад
In this video, I begin a series to go over the complete story of Pegasus, an unsuccesful technology company I formed with a friend when we were eleven and twelve years old, from 2014 to early 2015. This first video examines the origins of our first product, the Pegasus X, as a smart desk fan. This video is released on December 16th, 2017, the third anniversary of the Pegasus X release event on ...
How To Test A Laptop Without A Charger Using A Bench Power Supply (Day 11)
Просмотров 10 тыс.6 лет назад
I often get laptops from e-waste, and when I do, they rarely come with the original power adapter. In order to test them without the original adapter, I use this Yihua bench power supply. This video explains how to hook a laptop up to a power supply like this. Contact Me Please don't use any RUclips contact features, I never read them. The Cardboard Box That Hid A Pegasus X Design Flaw (Day 9)
Просмотров 2 тыс.6 лет назад
If you remember my Pegasus X video, you may remember that the headphone jack was on the bottom. Given that the Pegasus X was intended to be a music player at its time of release, this was a bit of a problem. In order to hide this, a cardboard box stand was used at the release event, and here is that box.
Wireless60 Wii Knockoff - Unboxing and Teardown (Day 8)

Four Boxes of Canadian Government Surplus Server Parts (Day 7)

I need to buy a CPU cooler, so if anyone has suggestions for one that can be removed and reinstalled rapidly for testing, and works on LGA1366, please let me know. More Tech: ...
E-Waste Dell Optiplex 990 - Gaming Upgrades with GTX 750 Ti (Day 6)

I know I've been looking at this Dell PC quite a bit, but today I decided I would return to it and actually assemble the system (which had previously simply been open, with the power supply on top and numerous screws and parts sitting in the bottom). The end result is a seriously capable low-cost gaming system, built around an E-Waste dumpster dived prebuilt and upgraded with a 750 Ti and a bee...
Cheap VGA to HDMI Adapter - It's dead... or is it? (Day 5)
Просмотров 4,5 тыс.6 лет назад
I recently purchased a VGA to HDMI adapter in order to connect VGA devices to my HDMI recording box so as to record the screens of devices not equipped with HDMI ports. Unfortunately, the VGA adapter appeared not to work properly, and I edited this video to end with my explaining that either the adapter was broken, or I had configured something incorrectly. After the video was fully exported, a...

can it run Crysis?
Son: Mom i want a SGI Supercomputer! Mother: When they are supercheap my son you can get one! The computer:
My father use to work at SGI, I even had his posters of Onxy 2. In remember him having and indy and an O2 at work.
why does such a thing not exist nowadays? or like, why is it impossible to find if you search for it on google or absolutely anywhere?? like what is the strongest computer available today in 2024? like you get what i mean like not a i9 14900k rtx 4090 but like a computer 20x stronger than that that is used by like you know the "studios" that like are running our planet earth essentially you get what i mean
Come back :(
The beauty of the boards and how they are built together is truly a wonderful sight to see.
How much did it cost you?
New dodoid videos when?
The company that inspired nintendo to go the direction they did with the N64. Sadly, the silicon graphics reign was ended shortly. Voodoo by 3dfx (and eventually Nvidia) ended them fairly completely. You'll note that the bear picture demo is mimic'd by the beginning of mario 64, where you can grab mario's face and distort it in a similar way.
Those graphics are insanely impressive for 1993
could you just imagine if we brought a desktop from the 21st century they would be surprised by the performance
5:55 Holy sh*t, that's the case I used for a computer I built and used for almost ten years. Love that thing.
Damn bro crazy with the nigger chan comment.
lmao youtube says i shouldnt say this cuz it says nigger
Super impressive for it's day!
If your PC has a key and an ignition you know it's good
Wow. my pc has 32GB of ram... incredible to think about the amount of effort they had go through to achieve back then what we take for granted today i mean that thing is HUGE and it only has 16GB... puts stuff into perspective
dude ive just watched 2 of your latest videos and i think u would have a huge potential getting a huge youtuber
i have no doubt that at least a few folks at Nintendo R&D used the rig itself as a desk back in 95'
Now I want to know where you went? Are you still here?
But does it run Crysis
when your computer is your battlestation
Early 16 GB Ram vs Gaming PC
The paper is for moisture
in about 50 years this will cause 250$
$15,000. I guess Hammond wasn't lying when he said 'spared no expense' (except for paying the actual techie....)
stuff is 15 years ahead of 3d performance
I bet 3 years after selling cray when toy story came out someone was thinking about offing themself.
I heard that the T1000 from Terminator2 was effected by this Machine!
You really needed to do a fsn demo on it! *insert Jurassic Park meme here*
Damn, 1993. When the last few areas were cosplaying as the USSR, the last hits of hair metal were releasing, Walkman cassettes were still dominant, and the mullet was still a viable mainstream hairstyle.
having 256-bit interface in the 90's is CRAZYYY
Would it be correct to say that this company was a precursor to NVIDIA?
I am one of the users of IPad for the first round devices had been sold in Jun2010. The device did its job for three years heavy use until an Ipad mini flew in. I still use ist from time to time, doing audio recordings with it. All the old 30pin cabling is still there and I furtnly bought the 64gB version. Amazing that the battery still is 8h alive. A remarkable device which surely will find its way into the Walker Museeum if the American Arts loke many cool tech goods b4.
but can it play crysis?
At this point, a cool piece of furniture for some nerd chic.
that wasnt a modern desktop pc LMFAO...that shit was from the early to mid 2000s
Bro got the thinkpad tshirt 💀 I defo need one
Хэй! А почему не показал каталку на машине по туманному городу из демо-сета? Вот где ностальгия....
Please come back!
How/why did they go down the drain?
You're ready to install Softimage and start to create T-Rex.
Massrooted 😂
Yay minecraft in 1993
And now we have 16GB for a mobile phone. Time flies.... Isn't it?
anyone got working link to that reality engine paper documentation? dodoit link isnt working...
Me: Dads old tower pc My friend: this is my 250.000 supercomputer guys
I think the Onyx was the base of the Nintendo 64 engine back in 1993 when it was in early development, that PC started it all.
These worth nothing nowadays, i found one of these laying in the a trash space.
Hey guys this is Joe Biden
Can it run Doom?
